We knew about the water damage. We did not know the other piston was very literally slagged.

Someday I’ll understand what I’m looking at here.

All you need is an angle grinder and a TIG welder to make it good as new.

In my expert opinion you shouldn’t be able to see the small end of the conrod in this photo.

Mostly scrap aluminum, a little bit of scrap iron and some waste oil. For future reference there shouldn’t be holes in the tops of pistons. It really fucks up the compression.

Possibility 1) Granny rode the accelerator entire way home
Possibility 2) Blonde listened to the radio too loud
Possibility 3) Air pressure was off by a PSI or two

The piston and valves destroyed each other violently. More violently that I thought possible.

Not quite as dramatic, but still toast. The rusty side’s head was actually pretty good.

No no no, if you don’t have a TIG you will need to use lead filler, like old school hot rodders. Bondo won’t last very long because it can’t stand up to the heat!
